RHODE ISLAND ONLY SECOND NEW ENGLAND STATE
TO SCREEN AWARD WINNING FILM
On November 10, 2010, Rhode Island will become only the second New England state to screen the critically acclaimed film OUTCASTS. The winner of Best Justice Film (NYC/2017), OUTCASTS another cinematic masterpiece by Grassroots Films. The Catholic Foundation of Rhode Island and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island are partnering to bring this powerful piece to the big screen at McVinney Auditorium on November 10, 2018 at 3:00. Due to the intense and raw nature of the content, this film is appropriate for mature audiences only.
The screening will be followed by Q & A with Director, Joe Campo and Fr. John Anthony, one of the Friars in the film. Parking is free and plentiful. Thanks to a generous sponsorship from Blue Cross and Blue Shield, this screening is free of charge and open to the public but pre-registration is highly encouraged.
Filmed on location in five different countries, OUTCASTS lays bare the lives of people on society’s fringes. Following Franciscan Friars of the Renewal as they work, viewers travel to the prisons of Central America, walk the dark city streets of London, New York and Ireland’s most treacherous neighborhoods.
Social justice is more than just a buzz word. There are real people behind today’s most common headlines. This film takes us out of our comfort zone and is a rare glance into the worlds so few of us really understand.
